Yorkshire Community Co-operative (Y-CoCo) is a consortium of four well established 3rd sector organisations working in Leeds. We have been working closely together for many years and have moved this forward by formalising our partnership in September 2010 and registered as an Industrial and Provident Society in April 2011. We formed the cooperative because we wanted to extend our reach and scope, work with more people and organisations, and be able to offer our clients some of the competitive economies of scale normally associated with much bigger organisations.
Y-CoCo members are experts in promoting health and well-being, building resilience and sustainability among disadvantaged communities.
We deliver a cohesive and well planned range of services related to health and well-being, homelessness, working with people with low self esteem, assisting people to return to the labour market, supporting them to regain a healthy lifestyle and healthy eating habits, addressing alcohol and drugs problems, providing a service to support women and young people that have been abused, dealing with anti social behaviour and building healthy relationships.
Our members have developed and spear-headed strategies to tackle issues faced by many and various disadvantaged communities. We have extensive networks and these are growing constantly. We are embedded in the communities we serve and can apply the intelligence gained from first-hand experience to finding new ways of making a difference in established and new areas. Through Y-CoCo we are combining our resources to deliver strategic targeted and specific responses, working with local agencies such as schools, the health authorities and GP Consortium’s, businesses – both national and local, other third sector organisations, and other statutory agencies.
